Hezbollah has also enlisted the aid of gullible American women to ease their way into the country.

Jessica Yolanda Fortune hooked up with Lebanon-born Chawki Youssef Hammoud in 1994. The marriage enabled him to obtain a green card — and the cover to operate a Charlotte, N.C.-based cell that smuggled cigarettes to raise cash for Hezbollah. The terror cell reportedly answered to a senior Hezbollah leadership in Lebanon and was part of a broader North American network responsible for also obtaining dual-use technologies for Hezbollah — including goggles, global positioning systems, stun guns, naval equipment, nitrogen cutters and laser range finders.
Fortune was convicted of marriage fraud in October 2001. Hammoud was convicted of smuggling, credit-card fraud, money laundering and racketeering in June 2002.
Fortune’s brother-in-law, Mohammed Hammoud, married three different American women. After arriving in the United States on a counterfeit visa, being ordered deported and filing an appeal, he wed Sabina Edwards to gain a green card. INS officials refused to award him legal status after this first marriage was deemed bogus in 1994.
WHAT IS HEZBOLLAH?

Hezbollah is a Lebanese umbrella organization of radical Islamic Shiite groups and organizations. It opposes the West, seeks to create a Muslim fundamentalist state modeled on Iran, and is a bitter foe of Israel. Hezbollah, whose name means “party of God,” is a terrorist group believed responsible for nearly 200 attacks since 1982 that have killed more than 800 people, according to the Terrorism Knowledge Base. Experts say Hezbollah is also a significant force in Lebanon’s politics and a major provider of social services, operating schools, hospitals, and agricultural services, for thousands of Lebanese Shiites. It also operates the al-Manar satellite television channel and broadcast station.

Marriage fraud is a big issue, and other countries are trying to wreck ours, and committing marriage fraud should be a felony offense, I think it is.

No I do not and those women should be thrown in jail. By the way I support Hezbollah. I’d attack Israel as well if they invaded my country. I hope Hezbollah wins.

We can’t stop people from marrying who they want. What if someone genuinely falls in love with someone in another country? I think the most we can do is make more effort to make sure the marriage is not a fraud. And like it said in the end of the article, once someone has one fraud marriage, don’t allow them any more chances.

I dont necessarilly think it should be outlawed, but I feel that there should be a more thorough investigation into these relationships as far as obtaining proof that they are actually a couple living together and that its not simply a front to obtain legalization. American men/women do on occasion fall in love with an illegal immigrant you know, I know, how unAmerican right??!! *note sarcasm*

they dont automatically become citizens, they become permanent residents, after about 6 mos ( at least) of waiting and only if approved by the US govt. then after 3 years have the option to take the citizenship test. It is cruel to keep a married couple apart.

I don’t think you can legislate love,it seems to have a mind all its own. There are many gullible men also that get duped by smart women. So its not a gender thing.I do believe strongly that the government has the right to look into some of the "marriages" to see if they are based on love of the person or love of ones extremists ideas.
I don’t really know the answer to this,I am torn between the government staying our of our marriages and my fear for the safety of this nation. So I can only say that I love this nation and one of our freedoms is the right to marry whomever we want. But I want to be assured that my next door neighbor isn’t going to blow himself up and take us with him.For once I need more information to make an educated decision.Perhaps there should be a waiting period from the time of the marriage and the time the illegal becomes legal?

Why do you choose a woman as an example ? Many men marry woman from foreign lands. A better way of wording your question would have been " Do you think people……" . Your example is an extreme one. I doubt this happens in EVERY case where there are international marital relations. Some of the terrorists came here on legal visas. Its like Minority report , you can’t convict someone until they have committed a crime. Also people have the right to choose who they wed.
